Join the San Marcos Cinema Club and other community members on Tuesday, August 30 for an exciting, fun, community event at the blank lot of 214 E. Hutchison.

We’ll engage in discussions and interactive build events to help think through the sorts of development the City should be encouraged to pursue. We’ll be screening the documentary The Human Scale as a continuation of the conversation of how we as a community best shepherd our historical assets, develop wisely in the present and plan for the future.

This two part opportunity meets first at the LBJ Museum at 5:30 and then at 214 E. Hutchison lot at 6:30.

The City of San Marcos has an opportunity to create its first downtown mobility hub designed to
offer a mix of transportation, community space, and infrastructure amenities. The City owns the
lot at 214 E. Hutchison and is in the process of deciding how to develop this space.

The two proposed uses are either a small, single use parking lot with 13 spaces or a multi-use
transportation hub to accommodate public transportation. This hub would feature a variety of other possible amenities including bike parking, bike repair station, bike sharing, shared car parking, rideshare access, small community stage, green space with shaded seating, rain garden, public restroom, children’s playspace, and mural wall.
